The Annapurna Nepal region is most popular trekking region in Nepal, attracting over 75% of all trekkers annually. Annapurna is a series of peaks in the Himalayas, a 55km long massif of which the highest point, Annapurna I, stands at 8,091m, making it the tenth highest summit in the world and one of the 14 'eight thousanders'. Located at the east of great gorge cut through the Himalaya Mountains by the Kali Gandaki River, which seperates it from the Dhaulagiri massif.

The Annapurna massif contains six major peaks over 7200m. They are Annapurna I(8091m) ranked tenth, Annapurna II(7937m) ranked sixteenth, Annapurna III(7555m) ranked 42nd, Annapurna IV(7525m), Gangapurna(7455m) ranked 59th and Annapurna South(7219m) ranked 101st. The name Annapurna comes form sanskrit which literally means "full of food" and represents a feminine form. But according to Hinduism, the name suggests Goddess of the Harvests. It means, the universal and timeless kitchen-goddess..the mother who feeds. Without her there is starvation, a universal fear.

The annapurna region is located to the north of Pokhara, where the spectacular diversity of Nepal appears at its finest. The deep valleys and high mountains encircling th giant Annapurna mountain embrace a wide range of peoples and terrain. The landscapes range from subtropical jungle to a hig, dry land resembling the Tibetan plateau. A trek around Dhaulagiri is challenging. The sixth highest mountain in the world, Dhaulagiri lies north-west of Pokhara culminating to its highest point at the eastern end. Kanchenjunga is the world's third highest summit. Situated on the eastern border of Nepal, such trilling place is found nowhere else but in Nepal. The Kanchenjunga trekking is the trek to the Base camp of the world's third highest peak, standing 28,198ft tall. The Langtang valley is located only 19 miles north of Kathmandu, closer to the border of Tibet. It is the closest one could get to the massive snow capped mountains from Kathmandu valley which makes it one of the favourite trekking regions for many people, both locals and foreigners alike. The valley is dominated by Langtang Lirung standing 7246m, the highest peak in the area.  The fact that it is easily accessible along with the visual treat of breathtaking mountain scenery, makes it popular.

The Langtang trek starts from Syabru besi after a 9 hours drive from Kathmandu. Following a trail upstream Bhote Koshi river through ethnic Tamang villages, green forests and the wide spread Kyangin valley surrounded by snowy peaks from all four sides, takes up to Kyangin at 3800 meter. The trek isnt considered a strenous one on the difficulty level, but it still remains challenging as it reaches an altitude fo 3800m at Kyangjin.

The Langtang trek is open any time of the year except during monsoons. But the best months to take up this journey is in April and May, as the experts believe. This is probably the most wonderful trekking region considering the difficulty, accessibility and the pleasant treat of a good trekking it gives. Makalu trekking is one of the most popular trekking destination in Nepal. It is protected by the Makalu Barun National park and Conservation Project, set up in 1992. The park covers 2330 sq km altogether. This includes the fifth highest peak in the world, Mt. Makalu.

It is also home to other mountains, Mt Chambling(7319m) and Mt. Baruntse( 7129m). The mountains ar a restricted area, however, the trekking is allowed in Arun Valley and to the dense forest, alpine meadows and up to the Barun glacier and to the base camp, from where the spectacular view of Mt. Makalu can be witnessed. The trekking around the Makalu route itself is extraordinary. With the attractions like Great Himalayan peaks , snowy villages, mighty rivers, the trek is a heavenly experience. It never fails to impress it's visitors, both foreigners and natives alike.

The trekking in Makalu region is best in April to May and late September to October. The trek usually lasts from 20 to 25 days. This depends in the plan and program of the respective travel agency you sign up with and also with your own time and interests. Regardless of how many days your trek lasts, the fun is the same. There is no compensating on that. The best part of the Makalu trek is that it is one of the most remote and unfrequented areas of Nepal i.e. the Barun valley. It lets you explore some of the less witnessed and untouched parts. Manaslu is the world's seventh highest peak standing 8156m tall. This area, situated close to the Annapurna massif, was only opened for trekking in 1992. This is one of the finest trekking routes, providing spectacular beauty along the border fo Nepal and China. Trekking around Manaslu offers a unique oppurtunity to experience a reasonably unwalked trails and untouched regions of Nepal, making the journey even more especial. Since, this region of Nepal is visited by vvery few trekkers, it makes the journey even more exclusive and unspoiled.

Located in west-central Nepal, the 177km trek around Manaslu is popular among all trekkers. especially those who are strong walkers. It provides the best that Nepal has to offer: fantastic mountain scenery, spanning altitudes from 375m to 5,300m. The untouched trails around Manaslu is a fascinating one along with the three peaks known as the 'Japanese Peaks' ascending along Budhi Gandaki river and through contrasting worlds of Lho, Sama gaon(3,450m) and crossing the highest point of the trek Larkya La (5,213m), which is a mere 8km from Tibet border. In the west is Himlung Himal(7,126m), Cheo Himal, Gyaji Kang, Kang Guru(6,981m) and Annapurna II(7,937m). From Larkya La, the descent is steep and usually snow covered upto Tanbuche.

The trekking trails and routes vary from agency to agency and guide to guide. But most of all, they are similar to each other, differing only in time and stay. The trekking can last from 18 to 25 days depending on the trail the guide follows and your time and interest as well. But the time and stay does no wrong to the experience you will gather. Manaslu in itself is rich in culture and geography, that nothing can hamper your joy ride.
